This category features animal figures found along coasts, in shallow seas, on reefs, and in estuaries. The focus is on lifelike poses and believable behavior representations for dioramas, model building, and collector displays, from rocky capes to shallow estuaries. Popular scenes include wave-swept rocks with nesting auks and tumbling rockhopper penguins, tide pools with crabs and sea urchins, expansive sandbanks with resting harbor seals, and kelp-covered outer reefs with swimming turtles and leaping dolphins. Encounters between predators and prey at the reef or estuary can also be realistically staged. Suitable figures cover many roles, including walruses in various poses, harbor seals with pups, and lounging sea lions. Several penguin species such as rockhopper, macaroni, and gentoo penguins complement breeding colonies. Additionally, leatherback turtles, blue-footed boobies, Sally Lightfoot crabs, vaquita, orcas, and dwarf whales, as well as sockeye salmon and marine iguanas, enhance the reef and estuary structure.
- Rocky coasts with breeding colonies and surf
- Tide pools and mudflat landscapes
- Reef modules with seagrass and kelp zones
- Estuary areas with salmon migrations
- Predator-prey scenes at the outer reef
The models are designed for natural postures and can be painted and combined to create cohesive coastal and shallow sea dioramas.
