The public payphone with its handset off the hook from MyPortal Studios adds a distinctive everyday detail to sidewalks, squares, and building entrances. This unpainted diorama accessory is available for model-making and miniature scenes in scales 1:18, 1:20, 1:22,5, 1:24, 1:32, and 1:35.
The freestanding phone sits on a rectangular base. Its rounded protective housing has a deeply recessed front with a control panel, buttons, and coin slots. The lower shelf and handset resting off the hook are also rendered as recognizable details. This design makes an appealing focal point in a busy street or at a quieter building entrance.
Depending on the scale, the payphone can bring different settings to life. Here are some model-making placement ideas:
- 1:18: As a point of interest in a garage diorama, place the phone at the edge of a workshop forecourt or beside the entrance to the garage.
- 1:20: In a miniature urban street setting, place it beside a building corner or on the sidewalk outside a shop entrance.
- 1:22,5: For a garden railway, set the phone on a small station forecourt or along the footpath to a railway building.
- 1:24: In a dollhouse setting, it becomes a detail on a miniature street, perhaps on the exterior wall of a shop or at the edge of a square.
- 1:32: Add a public meeting point to a Gauge 1 city scene by placing the phone right beside a platform entrance or building facade.
- 1:35: In a vehicle diorama, it can add realism to a roadside scene, placed near a workshop driveway or at the end of a sidewalk.
This unpainted model-making object was designed by MyPortal Studios and is not a toy. Suggested backdrops and other scene accessories are not included.
